Review of Energy Awareness Training

My name is Anita and I’m a therapy junkie – or, rather, I was. Like many people, I spent much of my time looking for something that would ‘fix’ me. In particular, I wanted something that would cure the Irritable Bowel Syndrome that had plagued my life for over a decade, leaving me exhausted and demotivated.

As luck would have it, prior to the birth of my son, I worked as a health journalist, which meant I was able to try out, and review, a diverse range of complementary and alternative therapies over the years. Some treatments I found helpful, others less so, but none was completely effective. Some – like yoga and reiki – I stuck with, others came and went.

And then, earlier this year, a friend told me about the Energy Awareness Training offered by Stephen and Lynda Kane. The theory behind the practice is that it’s possible to develop your awareness so you become able to distinguish between energy-promoting and energy-depleting choices – whether about foods and supplements, people, places or activities. These choices, of course, having a knock-on effect on every area of your life, from work and relationships to finances, home, health and happiness.

Inspired by my friend’s enthusiasm – not to mention her glowing skin and bright demeanour – I decided to give it a go. After all, what did I have to lose? I signed up for the very next training session, which happened to be taking place in my home town. It seemed like a good sign…

Despite the details I had downloaded from the website, I realised that I had little idea of what to expect. As a health journalist, yoga teacher and reiki healer, I consider myself to have at least some awareness of my body’s energy, but I couldn’t imagine how we could learn to work with something so intangible. Would it all be hopelessly theoretical and vague?

I needn’t have worried. The course was decidedly practical in nature, and the techniques taught were straight-forward, accessible, and, above all, extraordinarily empowering.

Over the weekend, we practised a series of exercises designed to increase our awareness of the energies within and around us, working initially with external aids, before graduating to more subtle ‘body awareness’ techniques. We learnt how to accurately discover what foods and supplements were ‘right’ and ‘wrong’ for us. And how the environment and everything in it, from material objects to directions we face and colours, affects us. We even learnt how to check out our emotional responses, bypassing our surface knee-jerk reactions to people and situations, to access the body’s innate wisdom.

In particular, I was fascinated by the results of the food testing. Items I had religiously avoided for years came out as okay for me, including wheat and red wine, while many I perceived as ‘good’, such as bananas, tomatoes, peppers and potatoes, turned out to be affecting me detrimentally, as my experience has subsequently shown.

We were also led through several unique energy-cultivating exercises, known as ‘weaves’. Reminiscent of tai chi, these sequenced movements strengthen and clear the body’s chakras (energy-centres) and energy-field, retrieving lost energy and generating new awareness.

Perhaps most eye-opening, though, was the work we did with a special energy protection device called an Energy Egg. I couldn’t understand how this white egg-shaped aventurine crystal could possibly work, but Stephen convincingly demonstrated how it protected against energetic stresses in the room.

All in all, the course was both enlightening and comprehensive, and, by the end of the second day, we felt we had been equipped with a complete holistic toolbox of energy techniques.

Two months on, my toolbox is in daily use and I can’t imagine being without it. Best of all, though, my IBS has totally disappeared – and, as an added bonus, after years of feeling blocked, I’ve finally written the novel I’d always been meaning to write.

When I first looked at the Energy Awareness website, I remember one of the testimonials catching my eye. It described the training as ‘life-changing’ – I assumed the person was exaggerating. I don’t any more. The Energy Awareness Training can change your life. I know, because it’s changed mine.

Sales Training ? Top Salespeople Gifts for Managing Chaos

You have a sales presentation planned; your laptop dies; you spill coffee on your only presentation copy, and the client moves the appointment time earlier. The Chaos Never Dies holiday is perfect for you, if you need to stop and acknowledge that chaos is part of life. If your sales aren’t where you want, it could be you’re putting out fires due to disorganization and poor self-mastery. Here are some day extender gift considerations to help you better manage the chaos.

1.    A daily planner. To plan is one time management activity; to schedule is another. For maximum self-management, use your daily planner to schedule sales calls and sales follow-ups. You know you are good at scheduling sales appointments, but life will be easier if a salesperson schedules when to prospect and when to follow-up.

2.    Chunks of time. Stop, drop and roll. Stop all the reacting for a few minutes. Put on hold adding one more thing to your ‘to do’ list until you start scheduling an hour to 90 minutes of focused time, each day to start. Then with this scheduled chunk of time, work until you complete one of your highest priority activities and take no longer than 90 minutes to do this. Then drop the task and take a break. I use my dog to signal me it’s time to break. Once you are refreshed, then drop again for at least one more chunk of time for the day. You will find the chaos starting to roll away.

3.    Feng shui your space. Consider cholesterol in your body as a metaphor for your office clutter and disarrangement of furnishings. Hire a feng shui consultant to come in and apply the practice of arranging objects to clear up your stuck energy and get it flowing again. As in caring for your body to lower your cholesterol, with Feng Shui you open your living space (cholesterol,) and energy gets moving again. Add plants or a tabletop fountain to stimulate more vibrant energy instead of chaos in your work environment.

4.    Chocolate. Get whatever kind you like! Or at least consider chocolate as a metaphor to stop and celebrate some success along the way to your sales goals. The more you stop to celebrate what you accomplish during the newly found chunks of time, the more chunks of time you will have to celebrate.

As a former housekeeper laughing told me, “Better to have chaos than to have nothing because it would mean you are dead.” Proof yet again that chaos is the norm, and it’s best to find ways to cope with it, minimize the negative feelings, and go more with the flow. Sales includes a range of activities where chaos can strike at anytime. Salespeople who are prepared with some day extender gifts to themselves will fare better.

The Value of Feng Shui Training

When I first started out in feng shui classes, I have to admit- my view of what feng shui encompassed was very limited. I had only been exposed to the western version in which you manipulate the objects in a space in order to clear a path for a clean flow of energy. Now, I wasn’t wrong about that, but I really wasn’t seeing the whole picture. Going back to the historic origins of feng shui, the actual purpose was to create balance between the heavens and the earth. This manifested in the laws of astronomy and geography as we know them today. Feng shui was used to select appropriate sites to build homes upon, for both agriculture and in selecting burial sites.

Today’s use has certainly been modernized quite a bit, but the intention is the same. Feng shui is used to create a positive flow of Qi to affect the life of the practitioner. Common focuses for this good energy are health, prosperity, and relationships. Anything that draws positive energy to a person and shunts negative energy away is a good thing, as far as I am concerned. One important aspect that I learned about during my feng shui training is the concept of space clearing. Now that I know about it, it makes so much more sense to me- if there is negative or stuck energy in a space, the correct action is to release that energy and assist it in leaving the space, rather than trying to overpower it with positive energy or charms.

What might one do with a feng shui certification? Well, the possibilities are really endless. There is of course, the role it can play in your personal life. It would be pointless, and really quite stupid to go about getting feng shui training and not apply it to your own life. Whether you are making small adjustments in your current home, using it to design the floor-plan of your new home, or working with space -clearing both at home and in your office, this is something that you must do for yourself. Frankly, not to do so would be against the principles you are learning to embrace. You cannot help others to channel positive Qi into their lives if you’re unable to do it in your own.

Secondly, your feng shui certification can be used towards your own career or prosperity- after all, sharing the knowledge of feng shui is certainly a good way to bring positive energy to yourself and your loved ones! It would be a great addition for people already working in the home design or decorating field, or even those doing the work of planning the architectural layout of homes. Many people are interested in a more conscious building style these days.

Another option is for people like me, who work in the life-coaching field. I started off with feng shui classes for personal interest, but soon realized that I had gained a powerful tool for helping many of my clients. As a life coach in all walks of life, and I always treat them with a holistic approach. Their home situation, their relationships, all of that is something that I look at as a part of what makes them who they are. When they can create a better space to live and work, it often supports them very well in making the other life changes that they desire to make in life.
