Feng Shui For Study Room: Improving Concentration and Productivity
If you are looking to get the most out of your studying area, you’ll find that one thing that you can tap into is what the art of feng shui has to offer you. Feng shui is the ancient Chinese art of balance and harmony, and you’ll find that by integrating these principles into the design of the room that you or your child has chosen to study in, you’ll be able to make a great deal of improvements in your studies.
When you are looking to make sure that a room is conductive to the art of studying and for the assimilation of information, you’ll find that there are several things to keep in mind. This is especially so if you want to apply feng shui for study room.
Feng Shui Study Room Tip#1
Start by making sure that the study room is tidy. Studying in an untidy room can be quite distracting, so make sure that the room itself is clean and calm. Don’t leave things that are not necessary for studying strewn on the desk.
Take some time to make sure that everything has a proper place to sit, and look for broad expanses of clear space. This will give you plenty of room to work on the finer points of feng shui for better studying. Look for ways to keep the study desk itself as bare as you can, because that will help with focus.
Feng Shui Study Room Tip#2
Another thing that you will need to examine is how the study station is situated. This can help you determine how you want to set up the room, so make sure that you pay attention to it. First, remember that the desk of the person who is studying should be placed so that the window is to the left of the desk, if at all possible.
If there is no window there, hang a mirror instead, which can act in much the same way. Make sure that for the best results that the desk does not have the person who is sitting at it with their back to the door, as this can affect their concentration.
Feng Shui Study Room Tip#3
To give the room an open and inviting look, take a look at adding a wind chime or a plant near the window. You’ll find that in feng shui lore that this can prevent bad luck and bad influences from coming in through the window. Using bamboo or cactus in this place can add some extra protection there and it can help keep you or whoever is studying there sharply focused. You also might find that a wind chime can be a great tool to brighten up the room and to invite in positive influences.
There are plenty of reasons to think about making sure that your study area is compliant when it comes to feng shui. Applying feng shui for study room can have a surprising effect on your studying experience. You’ll find that there are plenty of things that you can do to make it a welcoming place that you enjoy studying in, so take some time to think about what you can do. Remember that feng shui can help you liven up the entire room.

How To Study For Your Exams
Create a study timetable or study in chunks of time. Mix up subjects so that you use some parts of your brain while giving other parts of your brain a rest. If you are more alert during the day, then use the day time to tackle subjects that need most of your energy and study and revise content that is easier to go over later on in the day or at night.
Write a “to-do list” with the topics and tasks you need to tackle based on the subjects you have to cover on your timetable. This puts your workload in to perspective and give you a sense of progress and accomplishment as you tick each item off.
Prioritize your studying based on the difficulty of the subjects and course material, the amount of information you need to cover, and of course, the order of your exams, which should be reflected in your study timetable.
Summarize each unit of the course whether you write or type your notes is up to you. Writing out notes can sometimes help memorize the content better.
Highlight sections of information that you need to familiarize yourself with still. Recap by reading and re-writing these points out. Look over the easy work first and then focus your energy on points you need to revise. There’s no point in wasting reading time and brain space looking over information that you already know!
Take notes! Use techniques that suit your style of studying. Learn more about techniques of taking lecture note.
Use past exam papers. Go through the questions and check your answers. Review those that you get wrong and seek similar questions till you are able to answer that style of question confidently and accurately.
Group study with other students can be great for swapping notes, teaching each other and revising in general.
Give yourself a break! This is easy to pencil in if you have a study schedule set up. It motivates you to get through a session of study, knowing that you get to chill out at a certain time. Have food, phone, TV or internet breaks every couple of hours to relax your mind and revitalize. But be careful, jumping online and trying to keep up with emails and online chatting can sometimes keep your brain working and send it in to overtime and exhaustion. So make sure you’re doing something on your break that doesn’t require too much effort.
A decent study area is like great studying Feng-Shui. So make sure your study area is exactly for just that – studying! Clear the area from any distractions, especially electronics such as your mobile and computer! Have adequate lighting and a comfortable chair with plenty of desk space to have your study materials close by.
Procrastination – don’t do it! This is when you keep delaying study especially for subjects that you don’t want to face. It’s when you find reasons that you think are valid enough to stop you from studying such as a sudden need to help with the household chores. Keep it real and don’t put off studying for a later time. Stick to your schedule and tackle the study load straight away in small section and save yourself from having to cram it all in later on.
Eat and drink well and try to avoid overdosing on junk food, which serve as comfort food in times of stress – they are low in nutrients. Although the food pyramid tells us that fruit is healthy, it actually has useful natural sugars that fuel you with the energy that you need to help you concentrate. Cereal, sandwiches and muesli bars are also a good fix and they keep your tummy from aggravating you, and don’t forget to keep your brain hydrated by drinking the right quantity of water!
Exercise or do something that keeps you active. You can do this during your break or by dedicating a morning or afternoon to getting outdoors. Vigorous activity makes it easier for you to relax, stay calm and of course sleep.
Various university facilities are at your disposal and you probably don’t even know it. There are usually personnel who are trained to help you cope with stress, answer study-related questions, give you study tips and other forms of guidance. Just visit your uni website or ask your professor what help is available.
Don’t panic when you are unsure of something or become stressed. Close your eyes and concentrate on your breathing and get your breathing to a slow and deep set of inhaling and exhaling. Get away from the books for a while and listen to a bit of music or talk to someone you know to get your mind off study.
Work smarter, not harder. Lastly, Pogojo wants you to remember that you know yourself best. Don’t match anyone else’s efforts. Improve on what you need to study. Be honest with yourself.

Feng Shui Study
Feng Shui is relevant to any body. You can practice Feng Shui in any situation and living environment. Anyone who is interested in knowing about nature and is interested in improving the quality of life for self and others is sure to be benefited by Feng Shui study.
But before you take up the Feng Shui study it is important to know that there are many schools of Feng Shui and there are many variations that exist within each school. What ever school you might consider for your Feng Shui study, remember the basic principles and theories (Feng Shui elements, concept of yin and yang, Feng Shui Colors) would remain the same but there can be some variation in the tools that are used for analysis and interpretations.
The following information provides you a brief introduction to various schools of Feng Shui:
Flying Star Feng Shui
Flying Star or Xuan Kong Feng Shui is the most advanced level of Feng Shui study, it adds a time dimension to a building’s energy. The advanced Compass School also integrates the Eight House Theory to provide a comprehensive & professional analysis of a house.
Feng Shui study under this school enables you to predict the good times and the bad times from year to year, month to month and day -to-day based which are based on the natal or the birth day chart of each house.
Feng Shui consultant of this school suggests enhancements for every home after a complete Feng Shui study is made to know how the nine different “stars” or energies are moving or flying to different compass directions every year, month, day and hour. Base Charts of all nine periods are constructed based on the study. The residents’ dates of birth are also taken into account. The school also gives consideration to the form as it affects the stars.
Compass School Feng Shui
Compass School divides the structure into the eight compass directions using a lopan compass. Each person has four good compass directions and four bad compass directions which are based on their year of birth and gender, the person either belongs to either the East Group or the West Group. A building’s sitting direction determines whether it is an East or West Group structure. Each compass direction has a Feng Shui element associated with it: water, wood, earth, metal, or fire. A feng shui consultant who is proponent of this school suggests best compass directions for sleeping and working which can tremendous affect for improving your life.
Form School Feng Shui
Under the ‘The Form School of Feng Shui’ one makes a systematic Feng Shui study to understand how the shapes and forms of the surrounding landscape and waterways affect people living or working in a structure. The four cardinal directions of the compass are represented by four animals which are the Green Dragon of the East, the White Tiger of the West, the Red Phoenix of the South and the Black Turtle of the North. Interior forms and the layout of the structure are also analyzed and Feng Shui consultation is made by understanding the many implications of the color.
Western Feng Shui/BTB (Black Hat Sect Tibetan Buddhist)/Pyramid
This is a modern version of Feng Shui developed in the mid 1980s and is a combination of Tibetan Buddhism, Taoism, Psychology and Traditional Feng Shui and is based on a more spiritual approach. The structure is divided into eight sections and a bagua or Ba Gua map is aligned with the entry door, rather than actual compass directions. Each section corresponds to a different life aspiration. The Feng Shui study gives more emphasis on placing of symbols. The Feng Shui consultation also draws from modern psychology and design principles besides the ancient wisdom. Its guiding principle is that changing the subtle energetic (Chi) alignments and flows in a given space can change a situation’s inherent intention, hence changing the fate of its inhabitants.
Feng Shui Study
One can go for Feng Shui study for any of the Feng Shui School mentioned above in a distance learning mode. There are available many certified continuing education providers on the internet.
The Feng Shui study helps you to have deep and clear understanding of the environment; discovering how to begin balancing and positively activating energy in your working and living environments. It is only after a proper Feng Shui study that you are in position to explore new ideas and techniques and learn to extend the basic principles of Feng Shui to healing your body, mind and spirit.
