The land of opportunity, the United States of America. Many immigrants have made the trek to this country, hoping for the American dream. The diversity of race has been a mishmash of sorts with each contented to have a peaceful environment working hand in hand for a better standard of living. Everyone is working hard trying to better their lives and one of their goals is to have a house of their own to call home.
In a survey done about the surnames of top home buyers, anyone could see that
Hispanic and Asian surnames have ranked high. In 2005, eight out of ten home buyers in California were either Asian or Hispanic as reflecting on the surnames of those who bought houses.
In Florida on the same year, the surname Rodriguez was ranked third in the top ten surnames that bought houses. Although ranked two notches below the top, the surname Rodriguez had a higher average on the prices of the house they bought.
More studies from before has also shown that many immigrants lists owning a house, home and properties as their top priority. Many of them work hard to save up to one day owning a home. Roughly from 60 to 50 percent of them wants a roof over their head that they have a deed on.
Real estate agents have seen the buying force and have capitalized on this. There is really nothing new with this, this nation was built on the backs of many immigrants who have worked hard to build it. Many off them have done the races and treks to new found lands to claim their own properties. They braved the wilds and worked hard to make their homes. Having a house or property is something anyone can be greatly proud of.
Now it is the influx of a new kind of immigrants. There may be no undiscovered or chartered lands to claim anymore, no more wild races to run, but there is the hardships of competition and the endurance of daily sacrifice to lay claim to a property. Many immigrants have to work doubly hard to enhance their quality of life and buying a home of their own is their reward.
Real estate agents have felt the sudden change in the trends and this is brought upon by the influences of their culture. Non-white surnames regularly calls for a different approach when selling homes. Real estate agents study their culture and their way of thinking when purchasing and choosing a home to buy.
The Hispanics for example brings great pride and self-worth when deciding upon a house. They want a home that can reflect on their characters. They want their hard work to reflect on the house they buy. This gives them a sense of pride in themselves.
Many of the Hispanics look highly upon people who have done all he could to get a house of their own. Home ownership commands respect. This shows you are a made person and is highly responsible.
Asians on the other hand choose homes that can be quite practical and very accommodating to their needs. Also, age-old traditions such as feng-shui can come into play. Many of the Asians would temporarily leave other priorities on the backseat and everyone in the family chips in to make their dreams and goals come true. Asians are known to be very hardworking and can give up many things and do sacrifices to achieve their goals.
Many real estate agents have created special divisions already who can cater to the needs of the Nguyen’s, the Chan’s and the Garcia’s. These divisions are highly trained on the cultures and mindsets of non-white surnames in the market for a home.
Also, the different ethnic groups are represented well in the market. Studies show that Hispanics and Asians are more likely to believe one of their own. This is because they know what the other has gone through and they respect each other for that.
Reports have shown that the continual growth of immigrant sounding surnames will continue to grow in years. Aside from the high number of houses that are being bought by immigrants, they also show that they are getting prime properties. This is a market that is hard to ignore.

As someone in the real estate industry, I’m always eager to find out more about buying and selling strategies. However, I’m not sure what to think about using astrology to sell a home. Or Feng Shui. Or magic spells. There are a lot of people more than happy to take your money in exchange for your magic number, star alignment, or real estate amulet, though.
Astrology has been used to divine the future since before the Common Era. Many people today view it as a harmless amusement. Move.com even has a section for “homestrology” profiles. Realty Times did an article entitled, “Look to the Stars for Decorating Advice”, featuring astrologer John Marchesella, who claims that knowing your Sun Sign can help you choose colors for your home.
In some cases, astrology becomes serious business, spawning websites like realestateastrology.com that sells subscriptions for astrology questions, natal charts, and business outlooks. These cost between $25 to $50 a month. Some astrologers promise results if you buy a personal profile from them, ranging from 19.95 to hundreds of dollars. One website promised that my problems selling a home stemmed from not having my home in proper alignment with the stars. For only 39.95, I could get a astrological profile that would improve my real estate transactions. Some Realtors even claim that they use astrology to sell homes.
Magic spells aren’t just for Mickey Mouse in “Fantasia” any more. Some people believe that they can help you sell your house. One spell requires allspice, myrrh and benzoin. If Eastern magic appeals to you more, there’s a site that sells Chinese Prosperity Oil at the bargain price of 39.95. Apparently you can anoint the doorstep with it or burn it for a pleasing ‘buy-me’ scent.
Another route is to bury a statue of St. Joseph somewhere in the lawn. St. Joseph, one-time husband of Mary, the mother of Jesus, is also the patron saint of real estate sales. One site selling St. Joseph statues intimates that you can sell your house faster if you buy the bigger statue size. One wonders why it is necessary to deep-six an effigy of a saint in order for him to take notice of your house selling woes, but there is no explanation forthcoming from history aside from anecdotes.
Feng shui is a Chinese practice rooted in ancient times. Basically, the idea is arranging objects in one’s life to attract positive energy. However, feng shui also attracts money from people who believe that this practice can help them sell homes. 19.95 buys one information about their element at one website. One feng shui consultant who works in real estate charges $150. An hour. On the plus side, feng shui does encourage people to pay attention to their color scheme and the placement of furniture in the home.
The principles of feng shui may actually work in real estate simply because they encourage people to arrange their house in an uncluttered fashion, with an eye for pleasing colors. Magic spells and astrology, though… are these people genuine, or are they simply taking peoples’ money? The truth is that the efficacy of such things has never been proven. It’s one thing to look at your horoscope for fun; another to hand someone hundreds or thousands of dollars, only to be told that your house didn’t sell because the stars weren’t aligned properly.
In the end, I would urge you to put your faith in a Realtor, whose ‘magic’ you can rely on.

The feng shui compass is an instrument that was invented by the Chinese centuries ago to produce measurements and sophisticated analysis of the direction of the home. This important data is then calculated to make a detailed map bagua over the layout of the home. An in depth bagua results in understanding the precise location of problem areas of a home which then contributes to remedies which can be used on those areas to fix the problem. So if you are looking to improve the ‘qi’ or energy of your own home and do so with precision, you should first depend on the measurements of the compass.
This ancient Chinese compass is also known by the names ‘lo pan’ or ‘luo pan’, and is usually utilised in all parts of the world by professional feng shui practitioners. Only someone with advanced knowledge of the inner workings of the art of placement is able to understand all of the complexities of this instrument. It is composed of a normal looking compass in the middle using magnetic needles and includes the marking of every one of the degrees of a circle. What sets this apart from a traditional compass however, is the group of concentric rings that surround the center. Each ring has specific markings that are all important for completing a detailed and accurate reading.
The reading is supposed to be made a couple of steps outside of the home. The individual doing the reading must remove all things crafted from metal which includes jewelry, watches and keys. This is essential, because metal objects will likely interfere with the movement of the magnetic needle. The individual must also watch out for any cars in close proximity as which can also cause problems. Lastly, this person should step away from the front door, because most doors come with metal hinges. The ‘lo pan’ is held in front of the person at waist level and the needle will then move towards the precise degree, giving a measurement of a direction for the house.
After the direction for the house is measured, the encircling rings of the feng shui compass goes to work to calculate a group of other details that may all affect the final reading. If this is done by an expert practitioner, he or she should then create a floor plan of the entire house based off the measurements and use a bagua map around the layout. The final result then becomes a tailor made analysis of your house and appropriate feng shui tools and techniques can be used specifically for you.
Discover how powerful a feng shui compass is for determining your home’s feng shui bagua. Use it to create a better living room, bedroom, kitchen and more.
