Feng Shui Voice

Listening to the Voice of Feng Shui

Anyone know much about Feng Shui?

I have been reading a lot on it for about 3 weeks but some books say different things for example the Mother-in-law tongue plant is negative energy… Im interested about the Bangua map or the use of the compass whats the difference? Any information you have is a help, I am trying to decorate my room to bring wealth and Love etc.

If you want to apply Feng Shui accurately to your home, you should use the 8 Mansions and the Flying Stars systems of Feng Shui. Also, be sure to sleep in one of your favorable directions.

Besides, to apply Feng Shui you always need to use a compass. You’ll find all information about it here (theory, glossary, calculators, courses):

Not much difference between the map and the compass system, except that the map seems to be more flexible. /shrug

As for the plant example, there shouldn’t be a difference of opinions on that. Mother-in-law tongue is a sharp, vertical plant — the sharpness of the points are seen as negatively, but in certain cases the vertical element can be positive, but only if the points are "blocked" or softened somehow. Don’t focus on specific examples, but the concepts and patterns behind them. Sharp, pointed, angular objects or objects that have been placed in a way that causes an effect that cuts off or pushes away chi (flow, basically) are seen as negative energy objects/placements. Curved, smooth, soft, or objects placed where it makes the entrance(s) seem open, getting around is easy, and where light is brightened but not glaring (like a mirror in front of a shaded lamp) are considered positive things and used to correct negative features of an area.

Wealth/Love are the NW/NE parts of the house or room respectively or the ones in the farthest back corners from the entrance of the house or room. Wealth is associated with shiny, sparkling things. Love is associated with pink, mostly. Red is best as a fame color, but can be used in conjuction with wealth or love to your advantage: adds formality and occasion to wealth, and adds strength and boldness to love.

Eliminate any clutter (which is negative in that chi gets stopped and tangled there), dirt/garbage, dead stuff (even dried flowers, which collect dust and smell funny sometimes), symbols of being alone (like a single pillow), arrange your room to feel open and easy to get around in, add some classic romantic elements in the love area, and add some sparkle or a water element fountain in the wealth area.

Most important: don’t neglect the rest of your room. Everything works together. It is best to not try to make a single room work towards more than one thing at a time: Pick the prevailing influence you want in your life and use the rest of the elements to work in that direction.

books are not good sources of knowledge when it comes to learning fengshui. believe me, i’ve been there. except if the books are written by the following: lillian too, yap cheng hai, eva wong, raymund lo, vincent koh, peter leung, and joey yap. these people have a long history of fengshui experience, and they are also considered as masters in fengshui.

i hate to disappoint you, but there is no such thing as the bagua method in fengshui. some of the methods in fengshui are flying stars, 8 mansions, water placements/ water dragons, face reading, destiny calculation, xuan kong da gua, etc.

fengshui can only do principally 1 of 2 things at a time or per application/ configuration: increase wealth or enhance wealth. though it can stimulate your social life by bringing in more people into your life, it cannot make a person to love you, it also cannot choose what kind of people to be attracted to you. to achieve this (stimulating social life for now until 2009) – put 4 green living plants at the northwest most part of your house in relation to the center of your house (not room, even if you are just using 1 room in a big house). you need to know the center of the house (intersection of 2 diagonal lines), then use the compass to know the northwest most of the house. do not do this if the northwest most is a toilet or a bedroom, as the plants can make your life more complicated. replace the plants when 1 or some become yellow and wilt with a fresh green plant. and do remember that fengshui cannot choose the quality of person you attract, so when someone is stalking you, just remove the plants. the effect of this formula will be most effective between march to august of next year/ 2009. the location of the plants differ from year to year. this is based on the flying stars method.
